Who we are

JobCracker (“we”, “us”) makes the JobCracker Chrome extension and runs this website, jobcracker.xyz. We're responsible for the personal data described here. You can reach us at [email protected].

This policy covers the extension, the services behind it, and this website.

What we collect, and why

Data	What it includes	Why we use it
Account	Your email address, and your name if you give it.	To create your account, send your sign-in codes, and greet you in the app.
Resume	The PDF you upload, processed once and not stored. The profile built from it: headline, skills, tools, experience, education, certifications, languages and the file's name.	To compare job postings with your background.
Pages you analyze	Only when you click Analyze: the page's address and title, its visible text (up to about 16,000 characters) and any structured job data it contains.	To produce the analysis you asked for. The result is saved to your account with the page's address and title, so you can reopen it.
Applications	Jobs you mark as applied: title, company, link, date, status and your notes.	To run your applied tracker and warn you before you apply twice.
Usage records	For each analysis: when it ran, which AI model was used, whether the page was a job posting, and the size of the response.	To count your allowance, prevent abuse, and keep the service reliable.
Billing	Your plan, subscription status, renewal dates and Stripe customer and subscription IDs. Card details go to Stripe and never reach us.	To provide the plan you paid for and keep the records tax law requires.

Stored in your browser

The extension keeps a copy of your profile, results and applications, plus settings such as the theme and whether the on-page button is shown, in Chrome's local extension storage, so it stays fast and works when you're offline. The on-page button only uses this local copy: browsing a job site sends nothing to us. Uninstalling the extension removes this copy.

What we don't collect

Your browsing history, or any page you haven't clicked Analyze on.
Website access you haven't granted: the extension installs with no site permissions and asks first.
Advertising or analytics trackers. There are none in the extension or on this website.

How the AI works with your data

When you upload a resume or click Analyze, the extension sends the resume or the page's text, with your saved profile, to our server. Our server passes it to Google's Gemini API, which returns the result, and the result comes back to you. Nothing is sent to the AI except as part of an action you started. We don't use your resume, pages or results to train AI models.

Who processes your data for us

We use a small number of providers to run JobCracker. They process data only on our instructions.

Supabase	Accounts and sign-in emails, our database, and the server that handles analyses.
Google (Gemini API)	Generates resume profiles and job analyses from the text we send.
Stripe	Payments, subscriptions and invoices.
Cloudflare	Hosts this website and its domain.

We don't sell your personal data or share it for advertising. We'd disclose it only if the law requires us to, or as part of a sale of JobCracker, in which case this policy would continue to apply.

Legal basis

If you're in the EU, the UK or a similar jurisdiction, we rely on:

Contract: to provide the service you signed up for (account, analyses, tracker, billing).
Legitimate interests: to keep JobCracker secure, prevent abuse and fix problems.
Legal obligation: to keep payment and tax records.

Where your data is processed

Our providers may process data outside your country, including in the United States. Where data leaves the EU or UK, it's protected by safeguards such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses.

How long we keep it

Your account, resume profile, results and applications: until you delete them or ask us to delete your account.
When you ask us to delete your account, we delete its data within 30 days. Copies in backups expire on their normal cycle.
Payment and invoice records: as long as tax and accounting law requires.

Your rights and choices

You can replace your resume and remove applications in the extension at any time. Email [email protected] from your account's address to:

get a copy of your data, or have it corrected;
delete your account and everything in it;
object to, or ask us to limit, how we use your data.

We'll reply within 30 days. If you're in the EU or UK and unhappy with our answer, you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Security

Data is encrypted in transit. Every account's data is isolated by database access rules, so a signed-in user can reach only their own records, and nothing is readable without signing in. The keys to our AI and payment providers stay on our server and are never shipped in the extension.

This website

jobcracker.xyz doesn't use analytics or advertising cookies, and loads nothing from third parties. Our host, Cloudflare, processes your IP address to deliver the site and may set strictly necessary security cookies.

Children

JobCracker isn't meant for anyone under 16, and we don't knowingly collect their data.

Chrome Web Store

JobCracker's use of the information it handles follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including its Limited Use requirements. Data is used only to provide the features described here.

Changes

If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your data, we'll tell you in the extension or by email first.
